I was born into an artistic
family. my mother is an opera singer and my father builds
string instruments. In this environment I developed a love
for music and the arts, but only started playing the flute
at the age of 20.
My flute teacher was Amos Eisenberg, who was taught by
William Kincaid, Marcell Moyse and Jean-Pierre Rampal, and
under his tutelage I gained entrance into the Wits
university music school after only six months of playing the
flute.
After my university studies were concluded I developed an
interest in playing the pan flute. I heard George Zamfir
play Gypsy music and I was inspired to learn the Pan flute.
It is a very difficult instrument to learn to play and there
are no pan flute teachers in South Africa, but it forced me
to be inventive and to think for myself as I painstakingly
mastered the instrument.
Once I got the knack of teaching myself an instrument I
decided to also learn to play the Chromatic Harmonica, and
it has become my third instrument. I now perform with my
group at concerts and corporate events on a daily basis and
playing my flutes has become second nature.
In 1998 I released my first Cd , and since then I have been
very active as a recording artist. I am now playlisted on
most easy listening Radio stations and have over 20 cd
releases.
I am truly amazed at how things turned out and I would like
to close this brief history on myself by stating how very
thankful I am to the warm public who have supported me so
enthusiastically in my musical endeavours. I hope to
entertain you for many years to come. |
