The Impossibly Wonderful
Theatre Company
Bio
17 years ago Buchanan started working as professional
musician, and has played at over 5000 performances, from
fashion launches to weddings to theatre productions, the
list is endless. During this time Buchanan has also been
extremely active on the recording and producing scene and
has released more than 20 cd's commercially. There is not a
nook or cranny in show business where Buchanan has not been
artistically involved and yet he is still exploring the
endless medium of art. It is
with great enthusiasm and
inspiration that Buchanan has now formed and launched The
Impossibly Wonderful Theatre
Company for Children, and all
are welcome to share in the fun.
Mission
It is the mission of "The Impossibly Wonderful Theatre
Company" to open the door to the magical world of the
performing arts. Our productions are of the highest quality
and professionalism and provide exposure to various
disciplines of art, like opera, visual art, dance, acting
and the instruments of the orchestra. The company includes
all genres of theatre from classical works right through to
modern pieces, thus helping children understand all aspects
of theatre and creating an awareness of all arts in the
community. Whether it's through the musical virtuosity of
"Peter and the Wolf", or the beautiful language of the
Shakespeare for kid’s productions, we believe that art, fun
and education combined will win the hearts and minds of
children and cultivate a fine sense of culture.
Peter and the Wolf
Prokofiev? Peter and the wolf? Whether you know the names or
not, when you hear Peter's theme being played you will
recognize it instantly. This symphonic tale about a boy
catching a big bad wolf was composed by the great Russian
composer Sergei Prokofiev, and was intended to introduce
children to classical music and musical instruments, and it
has become one of the great classical pieces in orchestral
repertoire. The characters in the piece all have a
distinctive theme, the wolf played by the double bass is
menacing and evil, whilst the beautiful little bird played
by the flute is frivolous and playful. Each musical sketch
creates pictures of such refinement that young listeners
will be influenced forever. How we wish we could be children
again, just to experience the delicious fear when the wolf
comes out of the woods, and the deep satisfaction when Peter
catches him by the tail, but alas, the closest we could get
to reliving the pleasure was to recreate this masterpiece
and perform it to it's intended audience, the children.
